In order to meet their new data center requirements, Microsoft built CH1 in the Chicago suburb of Northlake, IL. Originally, the structure was expected to be 440,000-square-feet and a multi-tenant facility. When Microsoft decided to obtain the entire facility, they increased the size to 550,000-square-feet and became the sole tenants. The data center has 120mw of power and is carrier neutral.
